Oxford Against Cutting will soon be rebranding to: Sundial Centre for Education on Harmful Practices
Diversity Perspectives is a recent initiative developed by Oxford Against Cutting to support local authorities, charities and other groups/organisations working to further the rights of women and girls. Using our in-house expertise, we can review, audit and suggest improvements for your communication and information-based materials. This might be for training (such as workshop plans and handouts), web content or policy documents. We can ensure these are suitable and user-friendly for service users and practitioners from a multi-lensed and intersectional perspective. We can also carry out desktop research to develop bespoke toolkits, resource banks and website content, provide research expertise for evidence-gathering or impact assessment and evaluate training, research or change projects.
This consultancy was born following requests from partners for our specialist team to review their resources from diverse perspectives so that they are culturally sensitive, gender-appropriate, and user-friendly for all ages and abilities. Our team currently represents thirteen different cultural groups and has specialisations in a wide range of issues, including gender, abuse, and health, as well as equality and diversity. Alongside our diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds we also bring a wealth of practitioner and academic experience.
Domestic Abuse Coordinator for Wokingham Borough Council, Karen Evans, said:
“It has been great to work with Oxford Against Cutting, who undertook a thorough review of our DA service’s web-based information to highlight best practice and provide us with practical suggestions to meet the needs of those in our community with language or communication barriers. They also identified a range of existing DA resources for us to draw on. Their team were very receptive to working together, fully exploring our aims and regularly checking in.”
Feedback from Chloe Purcell, Director of SAFE:
“The team at Oxford Against Cutting worked with us to do a BAED Perspective review of some of the material we use in our work in schools with SafeStories. It was really helpful to have an independent and expert board review the material that we had put together with a mind to diversity and inclusivity. They produced a helpful review document that identified areas of good practice and areas for reflection and improvement. We would definitely consider consulting them with the development of any of our future material.”
